The Commerce Hub

The Commerce Hub (The Hub) is a Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry economic development project that aims to create an engaging commercial space that supports the development of local business and enterprise. The Hub creates vibrancy and activation within the Kalgoorlie Central Business District (Kal City Centre.)

The Commerce Hub provides a space that will stimulate economic development outcomes from micro and small businesses, provide a solution for those who need a less permanent space and commercial postal address to conduct business, and ultimately attract and retain long-term tenant (s) for the currently vacant property.

Under the management of KBCCI, The Commerce Hub will support local businesses with a low cost, low-risk environment that will promote entrepreneurship, collaboration, and nurture opportunities for growth.

The Commerce Hub operational model will be a membership and hire agreement service model. It is estimated that the revenue generated from short term hire agreements will allow The Hub to become sustainable post funding and within the first 12 - 18 months of operating.

The benefit of running the project at 226 Hannan Street is that it is a KBCCI property and so there isn’t a need for a head lease or third-party agreement. The KBCCI has the ability under the authorisation of the board to hire the spaces and sublet the property without additional charges. Overall this reduces the cost of the project and allows it to be self-sustaining whilst the demand for the service remains.
